About Us

Founded in 1984 by the MIBOR REALTOR® Association (MIBOR), the REALTOR® Foundation seeks To mobilize our real estate community to raise funds and foster support for organizations that transition central Indiana’s homeless to safe and secure housing.

Vision: Central Indiana’s homeless have access to safe and permanent housing solutions that positively change their lives.

Since its founding, the REALTOR® Foundation has awarded grants that have helped central Indiana strengthen its communities.

The REALTOR® Foundation has provided more than $1 Million to regional nonprofits.

We are proud to continue our commitment to the fight against homelessness. Click here to learn more about the most recent grant recipients.

Key ways we raise money and need for sustained methods and sources of income:

  • Annual fund funds our grants. This pot of money (approx. $100,000 each year) is generated from individual gifts—transactional giving, pledges, one time gifts
  • Events (Golf and Ball) fund our operations—staff time, physical materials like those we are using today—food, paper, ink, etc. (approximately $60,000 a year.) Additional operations funds are needed. For this we are launching our first Corporate giving campaign.
  • Lastly, we raise gifts for the endowment. These are one time or deferred gifts. The endowment funds, including the interest it generates, have remained unspent. The intention of this fund is to ultimately build it up so that the interest generated could sustain $100,000 in grants each year. We are not quite half way there. This fund can be used, with finance committee and board approval, to fund grants and operations should the annual fund have a short fall. To date, this has not been done. This is a real strength of our organization. Your personal annual fund gift makes this possible.

The REALTOR® Foundation is pleased to share the executive summary of the 2014-2016 Strategic Plan with you.

The four main goals of the plan are focused on
1) awareness and impact of our mission,
2) board leadership,
3) fundraising and donor cultivation, and
4) financial sustainability.

While raising money and identifying future leaders is crucial to our sustainability, we know that our decision making must be rooted in our ultimate purpose—lifting lives from homelessness. We take our role as the stewards of your good faith and benevolence very seriously and strive to place your investment in the hands of quality and effective organizations that fulfill our vision for central Indiana’s homeless to have access to safe and permanent housing solutions that change their lives.
